Digitalization of Fresh Chestnut Fruit Supply Chain through RFID: Evidence, Benefits and Managerial Implications

This study provides evidence of supply chain (SC) management based on the digitalization a fresh fruit-supply (i.e., chestnuts) using radio-frequency identification technology (RFID). research adopted value-chain operation reference (VCOR) to assess implications, issues, and benefits SC digitalization, explore how RFID can be configured regarding VCOR blocks. Within this framework, stages, processes, operations were assessed tailored performance measurement system (PMS) including set metrics tracked, quantified, evaluated alongside monitoring field campaign. The results indicated that: (i) deriving from are constrained by specific organizational procedures in management; (ii) PMS Indicators centralized warehouse, balancing inventory between processing line distribution channels, presented most significant improvements across whole SC.
